As someone who is talking to people literally every day about MacroFuel, a common concern I hear is that the product has too many carbohydrates. Though I try to convince people that carbs are not inherently bad, for some it is still a deal breaker. There is this deep rooted belief that carbohydrates translate directly to fat, and that the only way to lose weight is cut them as much as possible.

I’m going to try to personally dispel that myth.

For seven-and-a-half years I’ve stuck to a consistent weight lifting regimen. Since I started at the age of 15…

Recently, “Lily the Kid” of Tampa Roller Derby had a chance to try a bag of MacroFuel. She was kind enough to explain how MacroFuel fits so well into roller derby health and nutrition:

“It tastes a lot like plain cheerios — I consider this a good thing! If I’m having it as a breakfast meal replacement, I like having a full serving. If I’m having it as a pre-workout meal, I prefer to split the serving in half to avoid having too much in my stomach: one portion right before exercise, and the other half immediately after. …

I’m a busy person. As I’ve talked about in prior blog posts, the idea for MacroFuel came about because I was too busy to prepare healthy meals. Yet last night I found myself in an odd situation — I had free time.

I had just finished a great leg workout at the gym. My work for the day was done, my girlfriend is back at college so I couldn’t go bother her, and I live in a town with a population smaller than the average attendance at a division 3 football game. So, I decided to do the unthinkable.

I…

A few days ago, we emailed a bunch of our customers and asked that they tell us about their experience with MacroFuel. We received a ton of responses, and we wanted to pass along a few of them:

“I use it everyday. It’s an easy way to squeeze in an additional meal to complement my workouts.”

“I get up early for work and fast while I am working. I drink MacroFuel to break my fast and then head to the gym. It gives me good nutrition and doesn’t . . . make me feel bloated [thus] I can get a…

Two years ago I found myself working as the deputy finance director on an Upstate NY congressional campaign (though since MacroFuel is decidedly nonpartisan, I won’t name who it was for). Those who have worked for a political campaign, or know someone who has, can attest to the fact that staffers on both sides of the aisle work 12-hour days, seven days a week; from the day he/she is hired, until the day the last votes are counted.

While these long hours are essential for victory, they are not conducive to a fit and active lifestyle. In the first months…

I’m not an expert food scientist — in fact I majored in labor relations at college. Yet even still, my time at college taught me one extremely important lesson: evidence matters. That’s why when creating MacroFuel, we enlisted the help of a food scientist who formulated the product using scientifically proven information. I always thought this was common sense, but I’ve found that too often, science takes a back seat to myths that are perpetuated through internet memes and gym conversations.

One of the harder myths to dispel has been engrained in the fitness community for years: soy protein is…

Those in the health and fitness community have long been enamored with the idea of a meal replacement. There’s no doubt about it: eating healthy is hard. For one, it seems to be the most unhealthy foods that taste the best; and further, it seems like the only way to make healthy food taste good is spending a significant amount of time and effort in preparation (or paying a premium for someone to do it for you). …

There are lots of supplement and sports nutrition companies out there. Some sell vitamins, some sell protein powders, some sell those powders that we don’t really need but the guy at GNC told us it was a great idea. Many sell all-of-the-above.

In my opinion, the supplement industry is broken for multiple reasons. The most obvious reason is that many of the products being marketed today are useless at best, and dangerous at their worst. Each time I walk into GNC I take some time to read the nutrition labels of the newest products on the shelves, and I am…

A few weeks ago, we sent a sample of MacroFuel to blogger Sarah Lee, and she wrote this wonderful review. We’ve copied the piece below, but you can also see the post on her site here.

25g of protein? Yes, please!

June 21, 2016

With the amount of workout clothes I own, one would think I have a favorite protein powder. But I only discovered it recently. When I was following a plant-based diet, I knew I’d have to get protein from beans, almond butter, and veggies. However, I decided to purchase a vegan protein powder as additional help. This brand is everywhere and a…

All the nutrients you need in one complete super meal.

There is no shortage of literature on the importance of the post-workout meal. We’ve all heard how critical it is to pack our body with various macro- and micro-nutrients immediately following a workout to ensure our body is fully replenished so that muscles can rebuild. Yet what is commonly overlooked is the importance of the pre-workout meal.

It’s important to think about what a pre-workout meal needs to accomplish:

1. Energy! Any pre-workout meal should ensure stable energy levels throughout a workout. We’ve all experienced the draining feeling of working out on an empty stomach.

2. It should leave you…
