I suppose on a semantic level I agree with you. However, due to the 200–300 years of repressing that white people (in the US) have done in every area they were able, I still feel like WP should not take roles that were written specifically as POC. It feels like it is more racist to appropriate narrative as white when said narrative was clearly meant as non-white than it is to pretend we are all the same. We aren’t; white people and people of color have a vastly different experience of life and of this country in particular and for white people to co-opt those stories as part of a larger mechanism of preserving privilege while using blind semantics as cover (like your above argument) is wrong.
