Cool. Anyway, I dig Elm and think it provides a lot of value. There is something magical about the compiler. If it compiles, it works! (I too played with Closurecript.)
If you want to go more “pure” ML, I’d checkout Bucklescript (OCaml for JS).
Also, here’s a link to a version of Elm/TEA written in Bucklescript written by someone who likes the concept of Elm but thinks Elm is ‘broken’. If, for some reason, I hit a roadblock with Elm, I’ll look more at this.
