Taking on the world

Well, by the world I mean a really small chunk of Europe, but taking on the world sounds a lot better than that.

I call this one “the typical international tourist photo”

Right now I’m sitting in the Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris waiting for my connecting flight to Florence for a month of study. I left Melbourne Monday morning at 11:30am and what followed was a long and kinda (alright definitely) sooky goodbye (soz Brad) and a long, LONG blur of flights It was about 38 hours to be precise, once you count stopovers and time zone changes. On top of that was crappy airline food, no sleep and cramped seats sitting next to super loved up couples and trying to navigate really big airports. I will never again take for granted again the fact that you don’t need to take a train to get around Melbourne’s airport!

Re reading the above I seem to be coming across as super negative but that might be the lack of sleep talking but there is actually a long list of things I’m really excited for.

  1. My first overseas trip all by myself. Okay this one is definitely more of a nervous, super daunting thing but if I can do it and not get too lost/die from panic attacks when things don’t work out I think I have done pretty well!
  2. Italian fashion. This speaks for itself. Meeting designers, learning how to style fashion shoots and writing pieces about fashion seems pretty exciting to me.
  3. New culture. I cannot wait to eat my weight in pasta, pizza and gelati in Italy whilst simultaneously consuming all of the wine in Italy. Oh and I am definitely excited for sight seeing and museums and old buildings but more than anything its food. I’m probably going to roll back into Australia #fitspo
  4. Learning a little about myself/growing up. This is kind of a no brainer. Its the whole cliche “going overseas to find myself thing” but in more of a “I can’t wait to test myself and stop being such a control freak way”.
  5. New friends! YAY! Who doesn’t love new friends?!
  6. TOPDECK. This one also speaks for itself. A chance to let my hair down after a month of studying abroad (but in a really well behaved way, I promise Mum).

That’s kind of all for now and my flight is about to board but I will try my hardest to keep updating my medium page with more posts of my adventures over the next weeks. But for now, arrivederci (I knew year 7 Italian would come in handy one day! Cheers Mr. Colliton :P)
