I often find myself doing something over and over, but if I simply take the time to organize my daily routine and carefully think things out, the time spent managing turns into an extra 15 minutes a day that I get to myself.
Sometimes, I think its hard for us to sacrifice something small in the moment because we are such impulsive people. We usually consider immediate consequences and time management, when if we simply have a more long-term mindset, we actually become more productive.
I don’t agree with the phrase “one day at a time”.
For some reason, it has never settled right in my mind. Why shouldn’t I be thinking about what might benefit me tomorrow? The overall purpose of that phrase is to get through a busy schedule, but in reality, if we are only thinking about that day, we will always be behind.
What I find most helpful when I get overwhelmed is writing out each task that I must complete. No deadline required. However, there is a catch. Whatever I don’t complete that day, I carry those same tasks to the next day and the next day until it gets completed. This motivates me to clear my schedule so that I can start with a clean slate for the coming day.
This is just what helps for me, and it could be different for others. I do know, however, that we as humans are in-the-moment thinkers and need to improve on having a better perspective on whats most important as Pham discusses.
I guess my phrase should be “one tomorrow at a time”.
