There are somethings that transcend race, culture, nature, and even age. These special feelings are some that everyone shares in their own way. A 15 year-old with a boyfriend feels love and someone that has been married to their significant other for 40 years feels that same love, just on a different level. No matter our background, or where we come from, love, especially transcends all physical and mental limitations.

What some do not understand, is that race and gender and culture do not necessarily separate us as much as we think it might. Although, our upbringings and experiences are affected by these factors, there is a spectrum on which we all feel. There is no possible way that two people can have the exact same experience with the same people at the same times in our lives, but no matter what affects us, we feel the same way.

I can not imagine a world where each person has their own set of emotions and feelings. If this world existed, we could not connect or relate to each other in any way. Consequently, human connection could not exist and we would not be able to describe our feelings to each other even through language.

The constant discussion on our differences in the media separates us from connecting to each other emotionally, and therefore leaving a physical divide in our society. I am not suggesting that we ignore our past or origins as people, but if we chose to focus on the present and how we can support and lift each other from where we are, life would get a little easier.
