How to Survive Finals Week

Starting college can be a very intimidating experience for a freshman in college. College is a lot different from high school because the work load is a lot more intense. Currently, I am a freshman in college that just finished my first semester. I can definitely say without a doubt that the hardest week of the semester is finals week. This is one of the most stressful times during the semester. Most kids, including myself, realize that they may be borderline on a grade for a class, and they need to score well on the final. I wish that someone would’ve gave me some tips on what to do when it comes to finals week, so here is a list of tips on how to survive finals week.

  1. Don’t Cram- I definitely learned that it is very easy to procrastinate work. I highly recommend not saving everything for last minute because your grade will suffer. I recommend starting to study a few weeks before finals week, so you’re not cramming and overloaded with stress.
  2. Keep to yourself- Not everyone studies at the same time as you during finals week, so your friends will still be asking you to hang out. It is important that you know how to balance your social life with your academics, so you can stay on top of your studying.
  3. Stay Organized- I learned that it is very important that you stay organized. You could be studying multiple things for hours, and you don’t want your notes getting mixed together.
  4. Sleep- This may be the most important tip. I found myself up really late each night of finals week. This didn’t help, because I would be extremely tired the next day. It is important that you get as much sleep as you can during this week. Your body will thank you and you will feel much better.

Hopefully, these tips will help you succeed during your first finals week in college. Good Luck!
