Giovanni Michelucci, was born in Pistoia in 1891, died in Fiesole three days before the age of one hundred years. An intellectual and professional life that has passed through countless rotations of tastes, fashions and political regimes. Champion of architectural history and debate in Italy of the last century, marks the first experiences of the modern, through the great time to rethink discipline after World War II. One detail after another, he reveals himself as a unique creator of interior design. Michelucci loves wood, its natural features, its essence. He respects the material and he avoids its laceration from metal joinery. He has found in Sergio Fantacci, a master craftsman who lives and breaths innovative creation as he, himself, does; as the vital lymph of the designer’s creativity.
Olive wood, oak wood, chestnut wood, attached to the roots of trees, Michelucci communicates with nature and with the universe. For his works of furniture, he prefers National Walnut wood, precious for its ability to become more beautiful through aging. Together with Sergio, he selects it with ritual care and repeats his choice in all his creations.
