I like your perspective and writing style as well. I teach a course at UCI where I try and bridge this gap between design and front-end development. I ask students if they want to be designers, developers or both. A majority of them say both. The challenge is that educational systems aren’t necessarily set up to nurture both the design and development mindsets in conjunction with one another. You have wonderful visual arts programs and you have world class computer science courses, but there are few that span across those disciplines.
