This provides the entire blockchain-gaming ecosystem with easy access to a tamper-proof and auditable source of randomness needed to create highly engaging and high-integrity games. When games are using Chainlink VRF, players can check proofs of randomness to verify the fairness of in-game outcomes and reward distributions.

Why Chainlink VRF? A Provably Fair and Transparent RNG
More and more gamers are joining the Web3 gaming movement because it provides access to in-game items that have real-world value, exciting opportunities for rewards and prizes, and a sense of involvement and community that goes beyond what other gaming environments can offer. With all of this value accessible on-chain, players are seeking games that embody Web3’s core values of transparency and cryptographic truth, enabling them to verify the integrity of loot boxes, dynamic NFT generation, reward distribution mechanisms, and other in-game processes that rely on randomness.

Both solutions become increasingly concerning as the amount of value being secured by the RNG solution increases.
In contrast, Chainlink Verifiable Random Function (VRF) is the industry standard source of provably fair, unpredictable, verifiable, and tamper-proof on-chain randomness for blockchain-based applications. Chainlink VRF generates both a random number and cryptographic proof off-chain, then delivers both on-chain, where the cryptographic proof is verified prior to the acceptance of the random number by the consuming application.
