Virtual Reality can change the idea of co-working in many different ways. There is always a debate among employers as to how many days an employee can work from home. From concerns, such as team building and productivity, it s a constant debate between companies and employees.

What if we don’t have to go to work, but can still be virtually present in the office. Will this be valuable? Each employee will have their own avatar with which they can login and sit at their desk, a virtual desk and interact with others at the office.

Software Engineer
  • Age- 20–40
  • Occupation, if any- Software Engineer
  • Name- Quincy
  • Quincy wants to be left alone when she wants to zone out and work.
  • Quincy hates the long commute to work and back home but loves spending time with her teammates. She feels that, being able to co-work with others from the office helps me stay more productive and focussed.
  • Their experience level with VR- Minimum experience with VR

Then the questions we asked were:

  • How accessible would each VR platform be to your target student in terms of price? Take into account location, age, and income.

VR should be accessible since employers will be willing to provide necessary equipment to help employees work in virtual reality .

  • How interactive does your lesson need to be? For example, do I need to pick things up or could I get away with just looking at objects?

The lesson needs to be very interactive since it should be a simulation of a real world office.

  • How realistic do your visuals need to be in order to teach? For example, could I use 2D images and videos in a 3D Environment or do you need high poly 3D models.

The visuals should be realistic .

  • Does my student need to feel like a participant in the experience or can they be a passive viewer? Could they be both?

Both participant and passive viewer.

  • Given the answers above, what are potential platforms you could use for your experience?

Oculus Rift and HTC Vive are the platforms of choice.
