Here are some general tips for copyright:
- Copyright protection applies to original creative works as soon as they are fixed in a tangible form, such as when they are written down or recorded. You do not have to register your work or include a copyright notice to be protected by copyright.
- You own the copyright to your work unless you have signed a contract or agreement transferring copyright ownership to someone else.
- You can use the copyright symbol (©), the word “copyright,” or the abbreviation “Copr.” to indicate that you are the copyright owner of a work.
- You can give others permission to use your copyrighted work through a license. This can be a written agreement or an online form.
- If you want to use someone else’s copyrighted work, you may need to get permission from the copyright owner, or you may need to use the work under the terms of a license or within the limits of fair use.
- It is a good idea to keep records of your creative work, such as drafts, notes, and finished works, to help establish the timeline of your work and your ownership of the copyright.
- If you believe that your copyright has been infringed, you can take action to protect your rights. This may include contacting the person who is using your work without permission and demanding that they stop, or filing a lawsuit to seek damages.
