From Life Science -Creative Science, Unfolding My Journey Into Digital Marketing
Once there was a situation, where in I was unable to find an appropriate pharma job after completing Masters in Life science. I established my career in teaching and gained 4 years of experience. I am a mother of two adorable kids,had to take break from teaching profession and moved to US, because of husbands work.I wondered as to how we plan for life and there is something different waiting for us.Because of visa restrictions, dependent spouses were not allowed to work, which would otherwise have helped me gain some
financial independence.The land of dreams often started turning into nightmare. Having spent 3 years in US, I never gave up hope. learning was always on my side, developed the habit of reading blogs, articles on social media.Over the years situation changed and visa provision in my case allowed spouses of H1B to work, then came a thought of taking up short term job oriented course, wanted to acquire knowledge on potential subject and bridge the gap.
Everyday, I did research on the courses which could be completed at my own pace.Until one day, after brainstorming on choosing the right course decided to shift the field from life science to creative science .Thought why not Digital Marketing course,since the world is getting digitalised so, marketing.Found that Digital Marketing is a $70 billion industry and require candidates with thorough knowledge and expertise.
Because of my the strong believe and interest in digital marketing my family member ,suggested me about Udacity’s DMND program and prerequisites of basic computer skills and gmail, Facebook account to complete the projects, I met the eligibility criteria. Because of that ,I further did a complete research about the benefits of taking Udacity’s DMND course versus its competitors like Udemy, Coursera,Shaw Academy,which offers learning from industry experts and university professors.
To launch a successful career, one must have a multi platform fluency and real world experience,this is offered by Udacity’s DMND program which is a three months course and self paced. With its unique approach and curriculum developed by industry employers like Google, Facebook, Hubspot, Hootsuite , and Mailchimp the program prepares students to fill wider ranged digital marketing roles like Social Media Analyst,Social Media Manager,SEO Analyst,SEM Analyst,etc.It prepares students to run live campaigns on major digital platform, program helps students to interact with peers, mentors, coaches, and instructors in virtual classrooms, in forums and on slack.
This unique and holistic approach of Udacity’s DMND program, germinated a sense of learning in me.
Until finally, I decided to enroll in Udacity’s DMND program -April 2017 term by paying the promotional offer fees of $ 699.
Ever since the program has started, I got to know the marketing fundamentals, which has helped me to understand the marketing framework, business models, value propositions, different marketing approaches, introduction to three companies, project preparation and many more. with good mentor ship I am getting all doubts cleared, which is appreciable.
Going forward I foresee my dream job of becoming a successful digital marketer,and have a perfect work life balance.
