Instagram is Becoming Safer
Instagram Co-Founder, Mike Krieger , wrote a blog post recently according to a Forbes article about new security features to improve the safety on Instagram. These features include about this account, two-factor authentication and verification request form.
About this account allows users to learn more about every account. This is especially important when accepting follow requests. It will show a lot more information about the account. For example, it will provide information about when the user joined, all of the users’ past usernames, the country out of which it came from and more.
What I think is my new favorite feature Instagram is about to roll out is it’s Two-Factor Authentication. This feature is designed for the purpose of keeping your account secure from hackers. I know my account has been hacked before and I know many other people who have had their accounts hacked as well. It is a big problem to have an account hacked because one something is on the internet it is there forever. If someone hacks your account and posts something inappropriate, future employers will be able to see it forever. That is why this feature is my new favorite.
The last feature they will be adding is Verification Request Form. This feature lets users request to be a verified account. Being a verified account means you are the legitimate person or business running the account. This feature will be very helpful to weed out fake accounts. In my experience on Instagram, there are many fake accounts for famous people and stores. Having the verified check mark next to the person’s name is the easiest way to tell which account is real and which is fake. Therefore, you will not have to put in as much effort to find the real account you are looking for.
Instagram is putting in an amazing effort to improve their security and authentication features. As an avid Instagram user, I feel this will be very beneficial to me, so I know my account is safe and who I follow is a legitimate person.
