Chakra is a scary word. To be honest, I’ve always thought of it as quite the foo-foo word, although I admit I did not initially put much effort into understanding the concept.

But as I attempt to dive into how our senses play a role in mindfulness, I was interested to discover a relation between chakras and color distinct colors that play a role in our emotions.

There are many resources for introducing yourself to the idea of chakras, but I hope to provide an introductory visual exploration of their foundations for you!

The idea of Chakras was first introduced in the ancient Indian text of the Vedas. They are considered the main energy centers of one’s body, and it is believed that when all 7 are aligned and open energy is able to flow freely. The location of each Chakra is not chosen at random but instead, relates physiologically to our bodies.

“These swirling wheels of energy correspond to massive nerve centers in the body. Each of the seven main chakras contains bundles of nerves and major organs as well as our psychological, emotional, and spiritual states of being. Since everything is moving, it’s essential that our seven main chakras stay open, aligned, and fluid” (Source).
