The best of me
Wind chill factor is at 80, a breeze
My hands floating out the window
The thermostat in the car says 25 degrees
In the western wind I wash my hands clean
Virginia was such a mess for me, my whole life
I've never been able to breathe so easily
I let that place have the best of me
Now I'm here with a few pairs of clothes
My fiance, the kid and the dog in tow
I've been hopping states to get to this room
In Iowa I swear I saw a cow jump the moon
Colorado, the mountains in front of me grow
In Yellowstone we drive over huge mountians in the snow
In this car with my family I'm finally home
Something I was searching for all along
Wisconsin, the sunset has never been Pinker
Beach, North Dakota, the most fun locals
Sundance, Wyoming the prettiest name
Devil’s tower we couldn’t make it in the snow
we traded in that Corolla not too long after that
Virginia I need the best of me back
Oh wait, I just found it in my Patagonia bookbag
Mom, dad, sisters please don't be sad
I can't promise that I'll ever see you around
Just be happy I left those small dead end towns
Where my deamons can’t touch me
Where there is love, not money
Where I can finally be free
Please don't leave the light on for me
