The Fashion School Store Benefits Kent State Students

Going to school at one on the top Fashion Schools in the United States, The Kent State Fashion School of Design and Merchandising even more to offer than just the amazing learning experiences. Many students travel from all over the world just to come to The Fashion School. The Fashion School offers many different Organizations that can help you get your foot in the door. The biggest organization affiliated with the Fashion School is the Kent State Fashion School Store.

The Fashion School Store (FSStore) Was launched downtown Kent in the spring of 2012. With the creation of this store and the boutique environment it allowed students and faculty to be able research and test sales, planning models, production, buying, marketing and test designs. The Fashion School store is unique because the students at Kent State, alumni and even faculty are able to showcase their merchandise that they have designed in the store and are able to sell it to the local community.

The Fashion School Store was originally located up in Acorn Alley here in Kent, Ohio. This was the original spot of the store when it started back in 2012. Later on they realized the reason for very little foot traffic was because the store was not in a good visibility spot. Now the new location of the store is over on East Erie Street. After the move they finally were getting more foot traffic from incoming students, faculty and the community in Kent. The visibility over on Erie Street is a lot better because it’s easy to see from the street and is also a bigger location then the previous.
The fashion School store sells a various amount of clothing and accessories. Most of the clothing and accessories are made by students, alumni and faculty. This is a range from dresses, jackets, hats and scarfs and other accessories. The most popular among the Kent State students is the FSStore pride wear. The most popular pride wear is the Kent State Fashion School sweatshirts. They also sell hats and teeshirts with the Fashion schools logo as well.
There are many different ways the FSStore has benefited the students here at Kent State University. For example, The store only hires Fashion School students to give them a better opportunity for their future and to give them a real world experience working in retail. This opportunity allows students in the design program a chance to create an item and be able to showcase and sell as merchandise in the FSStore. More importantly it allows this to be an educational facility for students to come in here and create or prototype for their fashion assignments.
