Keyboard Form Factor
Sometimes people can be confused by the percentages next to the name of keyboards. Today I will tell you what they mean and how not to buy something you don’t need by accident.
Keyboards come in different shapes, sizes, numbers of keys and dimensions. Let’s look at the most popular of them.
FullSize
Standard, full-size keyboard form factor, can contain from 96 to 108 keys, depending on the model and manufacturer of the keyboard (104 keys are considered standard).
TKL (Tenkeyless)
Shortened tenkeyless keyboards have 87 keys, do not have a number pad, and are otherwise similar to classic keyboards.
75%
Slightly more compact format. They do not have a number pad, the rest of the keys are tightly packed into the main keypad with no space to spare — the arrow keys and system commands (ScrLock, NumLock, Pause/Break) are squeezed into the main keypad. The same TKL fukntsional, but in a more compact format.
60–65%
These keyboards have no function keys F1-F12, cut off the number block, removed the arrows and system commands block. All this has been replaced with a combination of keystrokes. This format is mainly used for portable, portable keyboards.
40%, Split, Macro, Ergonomic, Keypad
