I like this analogy but it seems you are externalizing the cost of the composition of the sonorous arrangement of tones. It takes more energy to compose a symphony than it does to make a disorganized cacophany of notes. The system is still energy in - energy out, it’s just that some of that energy went in during a process seperate from the construction or winding of the music box. The system, as you say, is complex.
