A Win Win
that’s not a breath mint, but it is a breath of fresh air for Louisiana politics.
Sometimes you walk around the lake, like I did last night. Sometimes, you just plow right into the water and go straight across. For your consideration, I submit:
Col. Rob Mannes and Dr. Bill Cassidy seem to be men of good character and accomplishment that are contending to unseat Mary Landrieu in the U.S. Senate. The colonel is a conservative political newcomer. The doctor is a former democrat donor who evidently became disillusioned with that party’s socialist default postion.
Currently, the race is between the doctor and the incumbent. Cassidy and Landrieu are basically tied, both polling within the margin of error. Meanwhile, the soldier, in his pickup, is conducting a marginally effective, though admirable, grassroots campaign, traveling from parish to parish taking his conservative message literally door to door.
Do I believe that Mary Landrieu is a Washington insider who really is vying for more leadership in the democratic party, and that she uses the people of Louisiana as a stepladder? Yes. Do I believe that she should pay the ultimate political price for casting the deciding vote for Obamacare? Yes, again. Landrieu never saw a big government program, tax, or intrusion she did not like and is absolutely committed to centralized federal control of the citizenry through the nanny state and unlawful abuse by the justice system. Do I believe that Cassidy matured and had his eyes opened concerning the governance of a nation and the skill and pragmatism it takes to exercise it? Yes. His growth and understanding made him a more conservative republican, if not a bit establishment. Do I believe that Col. Mannes is a traditionalist conservative whose campaign is gaining incremental momentum and poll numbers, whom I could trust to represent me? Absolutely.
Who, then, would I like to see win the seat? Whichever Republican has the best chance at upsetting Landrieu—that’s who! My entire goal is to see Landrieu take flight, on her own dollar, back to her home in Washington, D.C., and continue to busy herself as a clack for Barrack Obama and socialist democrats anywhere in the entire country except the Senate Chamber of the United States. We must unseat Mary the Contrary, who is contrary to the ethic upon which our founders produced the Constitution—the very Law that she and her party are want to systemically disregard and abuse. What do we lose when she is beaten? The obfuscations, suspect dealings, and lapdog votes for Barrack Obama which she casts, and then misrepresents with impunity will go with her—a fine good riddance. With either gentleman, we will gain a senator who will be responsive and accountable to his constituency in his home state, rather than the liberal leadership in D.C., providing republican conservatives with added leverage against this president. I see here a win win, folks.
