Sickness and God’s Divine Healing

What does God say to us about sickness and divine healing? And, what does He promise about healing from sickness and restoration? In Jeremiah 33:6 (NIV), God says, “Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.” God does not promise that we will not fall ill. Rather, He promises that when we are sick, He will bring us to healing and good health. This is a powerful promise that we need to hold on to when sickness tries to overshadow our faith in God.

God is not a human being that He should lie about His promises to us. In fact, in Isaiah 55:11, He says that His word must accomplish the purpose for which He sent it. Psalms 107:20 (NIV) reads, “He sent out His word and healed them; He rescued them from the grave.” This word will never return to God void. It will always work in our bodies to bring about the divine healing of God. But how can we tap into this divine healing? What role can our faith and devotion to God play in healing from sickness?

How to Receive Healing by Faith

  • As Christians, we can tap into God’s divine healing by trusting and having faith in God. Our faith in God has the power to heal us from incurable diseases. It can attract the healing power of God upon us from sicknesses that have troubled us for many years. The bleeding woman in Luke 8 had faith in the healing power of Jesus. She tapped divine healing by trusting that any physical contact with the helm of Jesus would make her whole again.

Luke 8:43–44 (NIV) – “And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. She came up behind Him and touched the edge of His cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.”

We too can have this kind of faith in God and in His healing power. It doesn’t matter what the world says about what we are ailing from. What matters most is the knowledge that nothing is too hard for God.

  • Job also had faith in God, and He trusted that God would heal him from the painful sores. Eventually, God healed him and restored his health. There are many examples of people in the Bible who believed God for their own healing or the healing of their loved ones. And, God proved Himself faithful and did to them according to their faith.

• The Power of Prayer in Sickness and Healing

James 5:15 (NIV) – “And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.”

Sickness should not hinder our communication with God. Instead, we should pray even more in moments of sickness as we call upon Him for healing. Through prayer, God will visit us on our sickbeds, in hospitals, and in our homes. He will hear our cries from His temple and heal us. Whether you are suffering from headaches, chronic illnesses, incurable diseases, or allergic reactions, remember to pray. Rebuke the spirit of sickness and declare healing on your body.

• Seek God’s Will in Moments of Sickness

As we pray and trust God for healing, it is important to remember that God’s will prevails in all situations. His ways are higher than ours, and His plans may not always align with our expectations. Sometimes, God may choose to heal miraculously, while other times He may provide healing through medical professionals. Regardless of how He chooses to heal us, let us always seek His will.

Conclusion

Healing from sickness is a multifaceted process that encompasses faith, prayer, and submission to God’s will. By placing our trust in the Great Physician, we can find hope, restoration, and comfort, knowing that God works all things together for our good.
