Below we have highlighted two brands that are new to the top 15 spenders list this month. These advertisers might look familiar if you saw our Podcast advertising movers & shakers in June 2020 article from last week.

Spotlight: Samsung Galaxy 5G

Samsung is no stranger to the world of podcast advertising, but with the release of its new line of 5G phones, it has significantly increased its advertising efforts on podcasts. In recent ads, they tout the benefits of 5G, a new generation cellular data network that is promised to be faster and more reliable than past iterations. It makes sense that they are targeting podcast listeners, a demographic that trends toward being younger, college-educated, and early adopters, for this new technology.

Samsung Galaxy 5G, a brand awareness advertiser, spent $1.74mm on podcasts in June, which is noteworthy since it was also the first month Magellan AI detected ads for it on podcasts. Here you can listen to some example ads for each of the following podcasts: Reply All, Today, Explained, and Economist Radio.

Spotlight: Kaiser Permanente

Kaiser Permanente is one of the largest nonprofit healthcare consortiums in the country and serves over 12 million individuals. Magellan AI first detected ads for Kaiser Permante in May 2020, but in the subsequent months it has significantly increased its spending on podcasts. This follows a similar trend of the Health Services industry at large, which increased spending on podcasts 44% over the past 4 months.

Kaiser Permanente, a brand awareness advertiser, spent $944k on podcasts in June, which is a 1394% increase in spending from the month prior. Here you can listen to some example ads for each of the following podcasts: Dave & Chuck the Freak Podcast, Unresolved, and Women & Crime.
