Great points; thanks for sharing! I’ve gotten lost in the clouds many times and still do.
Every designer/aspiring entrepreneur I talk to: “I can kill it in branding, design, marketing. Every startup struggles with this; that’s why I’ll be more successful.”
Me: “False. The business, administrative, sales, and customer support side will take up almost all of your time. You’ll be successful before you’re 100% happy with the branding and marketing. Or, worse—you’ll become an unsuccessful perfectionist.”
I know—a bit harsh; designers DO have a competitive advantage. But sometimes people need to be brought back down to earth. As they say, “The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.” 😂😫 (I’m a Gary Vee fan, btw.)
