In fairness, a very small percentage of them were genuinely ideological. About eight of my class of thirty or so kids were against impeachment, myself included. Most of the rest just thought it would be cool to see a President get booted out of office. Kind of similar to how when I was in my freshman year of high school a (thankfully much smaller) group of students watched 9/11 and thought it was cool.

Those of us who weren’t total monsters quickly shut that shit down. Many of my classmates had family working in the Pentagon, after all.
