Jogging is one of the most simple and effective ways to increase your physical fitness, decrease stress, and enhance your mental health.

I’d always been curious about the benefits of running, but it wasn’t until lately that I decided to start jogging practically every day.

My desire to enhance my overall health inspired me, and I was convinced that the discipline and consistency necessary in my daily running regimen would help me better my life in general.

The Beginning of My Journey

I began my own journey by devising a strategy. The goal was to jog right after work every day at about 12 a.m, followed by a shower.

To make it easier for myself to adhere to this strategy, I also made sure that I had the necessary equipment. I purchased a good pair of running shoes as well as a rain jacket in case of inclement weather.

Despite my prior preparation, I still encountered some difficulties. The hardest aspect was keeping to the daily regimen. It was simple to become sidetracked or make excuses not to go.

Physical hurdles such as a lack of sleep, tired muscles, sickness, and so on would be the most common explanations. Especially at the start, when my body hadn’t developed the necessary strength and endurance.

Overall, the beginning of my journey was not without difficulties, but I was determined to persevere.

After just a few weeks of jogging, I was already starting to see the results of my hard labour. I was starting to lose weight and feel stronger and more fit.

My energy levels also increased as a result, which improved my mood and focus throughout the day when I was working on other tasks.

Finally, I also slept way better at night, because I was feeling more tired from having been more active throughout my every day.

Tips for Success

After having stuck to this routine for two months, I have learned some strategies that helped me make jogging a daily habit. Some of the things I found helpful were:

  • Set achievable goals: It’s important to set goals that are realistic and attainable, especially when you’re starting out. By starting this way, you can build some momentum and increase the difficulty over time.
  • Don’t be ashamed of setbacks: If there is a day or two throughout a week, where you for some reason aren’t able to jog, don’t be ashamed because you are better than 80% of everybody else already.
  • Consistency over difficulty: It’s more important to make sure you just start jogging every day, not necessarily how long a distance or how quick you run because it’s more important to get a routine in the start.
  • Listen to podcasts/music: I found that jogging in and of itself is a very boring task generally. To make it more interesting, I listened to podcasts and music to make sure I was staying focused on my runs.

Conclusion

All in all, I am very happy that I ended up starting to jog every day. It has significantly improved my life in many different ways, both physically and mentally and it is an accomplishment that I am proud of and want to go on.

I encourage anyone interested in improving their physical and mental health to consider starting their daily jogging journey. The discipline and consistency of a daily jogging routine can bring a sense of accomplishment and well-being that is well worth the effort.
