If our world is a simulation

If our world indeed is a simulation, then maybe it is a rescue mission, too? Maybe the original world is at the edge of destruction and its inhabitants have launched a multiverse simulation, of which we are a tiny part.

There could be several reasons for such a move:
a) The simulation could have been created to try and develop a powerful new technology that would provide solutions for the original world.

b) The simulation could be a way for the original world inhabitants to maximise their time, to enrich final moments of their lives, similarly to how our brains become very active in our last moments and possibly provide us with additional time in dreamworld.

c) Or maybe the origin world isn’t threatened with destruction and we are either an experiment or a form of entertainment?

Edit:
 Actually, as my partner has just pointed out to me, my thought process above has a big flaw. Namely, the size of the Universe. Even in our galaxy we are so tiny that we are absolutely insignificant. Let alone in the Universe which is mindbogglingly huge. So the chance that, in one way or another, we are the purpose of the simulation, is infinitely small, and in fact such thinking is very narcissistic.
