Finding Your Inner Pop Star
We have up to 60,000 to 80,000 thoughts a day. Some may be small for example, what kind of drink to get at the café, where do I go to eat? Then some maybe bigger like fear of getting out of our comfort zone or starting a new task that seems to giant to know where to start. Where do having thoughts meet our action to create? How do we overcome fear and start creating?
For years I thought about making YouTube videos. I thought of the backgrounds, content, what I would talk about, my niche, and fun engaging ideas to draw people in. I have endless ideas. But then I thought, well I do not have the proper lighting, or technology, who would really listen to me? What helped me to overcome these fears and start making videos? I made a video, edited, and posted the video.
Guess what happened? I loved it! I loved writing the content, the making, and the editing. Once I got over my fear I wanted to make more. I wanted to start creating amazing content for people to watch and enjoy. I love making people laugh. I believe its good for the soul.
Once I stepped out of my comfort zone, I realized I have a talent for being in front of the camera. I have created some steps to help you channel your inner YouTube Pop Star.
1. Use what you have.
I used natural sunlight from the window and even have gone outside to get the correct lighting. I did not have any fancy lighting. Later, it may be a good idea to invest in some lights. At first, it does not matter use the light from the sun.
I used my camera on my iPhone to make videos. There is lots of information out there on how to use your iPhone to create videos. Do not get overwhelmed with all the information. Pick one and go from there. You will always be learning more on the way.
2. Channel your inner pop-star
Who is the one singer you can have blasting in your car on your way home from work? Mine is Pink. I love her music and her performances. I enjoy following her on my social media. Someday, I would love to have brunch with her. Okay, okay, back to real life. On your video be your own rock star. Have your own style that comes naturally. Your followers want someone genuine.
3. Do what you love
Talk about something you are passionate about and know a lot about. I can talk all day about setting goals and scheduling. I make videos mostly about those two topics. I feel I can help mothers balance their lives and get some time for themselves.
If we have 60,000–80,000 thoughts a day, let’s make them positive and meaningful. Everyone has something to give to the world. Once you learn that, you can connect with world and have fun doing the things you enjoy most.
