How does the Indian constitution attempted a social revolution ? what have been the intended and unintended consequences of the Same .

Despite the well intended commitment of ensuring social justice through equalization or protective discrimination policy to government efforts have caused some tensions in society. The need of the hour is to ensure proper and balance implementation of polices so as to make social justice an effective vehicle of social progress. Liberalizing economy to create new employment opportunities there is need to encourage entrepreneurship and self employment in sectors like agriculture ,plantation and in infrastructure activities, proper mix of manual labour and machines should be used .
Without adminstrative and political decentralisation the goals of social justice may not be accomplished letting people decide what their development needs are will not only generate social and political awareness among them but also instill a sense of self respect and build strong leadership at the local and community levels .The main aim of Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar the chief architect of a constitution is to bring about social revolution through constitution which was adopted on Nov 16,1949 came into force on Jan 26,1950.
Constitutional role :
Constitution has tried to bring about revolution through various provision under part ||| of constitution to bring about equal treatment to all citizen without any social distinction based on caste ,colour , race ,sex , religion and so on (article15). It means absence of privilege being extended to any particular section of the society and improvement in the conditions of Backward classes (SC , ST and OBC) and women for which constitution can bring classification for the purpose of legislation .
It has brought about equality of opportunity in matters of public employment (article16). Article17 which brought about an absolute fundamental rights abolition of Untouchables’ . Article19 enshrined the fundamental rights of citizens .The 7 sub clauses of Article 19(1) guarantee citizens seven different kind of freedom and recognise them as fundamental rights.
Article 23 and 24 provide fundamental rights against exploitation . Article 24 in particular , prohibits on employee from employing a child below the age of 14 in any factory or mine or in any other hazardous condition. Article 31 makes a specific provision in regard to the fundamental rights to property and deal with the vexed problem of compulsory acquisition of property.
Article 38 requires state should make an effort to promote the welfare of the people by securing and protecting their interest . Article39(a) provides free legal aid so even the poor can access . Article41 recognises every citizen right to work ,to education and to public assistance in cases of unemployment ,old age sickness and disabled .
The state would be entitled to make special provisions for women and children for advancement of any social and educational background classes or for ST /SCs .A similar exception is provided to the principal of equality of opportunity prescribed by Article 16(1) in as much Article 16(4) allows the state to make provision for the resolution of appointments or posts in favour of any Backward class of citizen which in the opinion of the state ,is not adequately represented in the services under the state .
The Gandhian principal of local self government was given shape in the 73rd and 74th amendments of the constitution which along with 33% of reservation for women to involve in democratic to bring them provisions .—there is still disparities
Dalits have made little progress in government jobs and politics due to reservation but in other fields like industry ,market ,profession ,media ,hi-tech ,art and culture, stock exchange they are yet to begin .
Tribals have escaped caste discrimination natural resources are declining due to industrialization and urbanisation they are left with no option to join main stream reservation have been provided but most Backward tribals have not been benefited.
Minorities are minority groups like Christian ,jains , Buddhist ,Sikhs , Muslims, Among them Muslims and hence priority should be given to ensure health , education and jobs to them.
Backward classes a fresh look is needed to ensure the benefits to them of reservation and other safeguard despite MANDAL COMMISSION being implemented.
Women are worst suffers in social economic set up .There is a mindset that women are meant for enjoyment and domestic work .The must be concerned otherwise even women will not come forward to ask their rights dowry ,rape and torture is the byproduct.women need to be integrated into social educational and political system to bring about a strong revolution .
Framers and landless people : framers do not get return of what they bill for .The world bank and developing countries exerted pressure on our government to reduce the subsidies on fertilizers ,seeds , pesticides etc where as they support their farmers eg: 400/ day is given to maintain in England . Agriculture products must get their due prices and subsidies if required and agriculture based industries should come into being in order to protect rural migration.
