Why dog walking?
Living alone can be scary and extremely stressful for those with busy lifestyles. When I turned eighteen I moved away from my family and off to college. I was so scared to be living alone in a town I did not know with people I did not know all around me. I decided to get a dog to keep me safe and of course to keep me company. Bentley, my 10 month old black lab, lives with me and our new puppy River, a 5 month old german short haired pointer. One would think that having built in cuddle buddies and free security system I would be content. That is hardly the case.
Being a full time college student and working not one but two jobs I never knew how much stress taking care of an animal would be. Trying to find time between my classes to run home and walk the dogs is a lot more of a challenge then I ever imagined. On those days when I just do not have time, I need a friendly face and a person I trust to run by my house and take my sweet puppies on a walk.
The usual dog walking businesses have always seemed a little sketchy to me. Finding a random person you know nothing about online and just letting them into your home and giving them the full authority over your babies. On average about 1.2 million dogs are killed each year by a car (PetPlaygrounds.com). Whether it be getting out of their enclosures or getting loose from their collar they run into the road and are fatally hit. On top of that you can simply google stories of dogs dying from their dog walkers. It terrifies me to ever hire a dog walker or dog walking service for my puppies.
Your probably starting to wonder why I am down talking dog walkers when that is my entire business. Well my business is college student dog walkers. Students who attend the same college as you and that you can meet through campus rather then online. Students who also have dogs or other pets and know how to properly take care of them. I planned to accomplish this by meeting individuals looking for a little extra cash myself before ever sending them to any clients. This way I can know for sure that they will take care of your babies and know what they are doing. This way one can also know that the individual is trust worthy.
Dogs are family and deserve to be treated like such. They deserve the best care and the best treatment. Their safety is just as important as that of a child. Lets treat them like family and choose Safe Care Dog Walking!
