How to Setup a Ubuntu On Windows 8

Go to link http://releases.ubuntu.com/

I have selected latest 18.04 version

Download Desktop image

Install Virtual Box (Ex. VMware) from this

link(https://filehippo.com/download_vmware_player/ ).

We are using VMware here.

1. Create New VM

2. Give the path of downloaded .iso file

3. After selecting .iso file, enter the details to Personalize your machine.

I have given user name and pwd as mahesh

4. On click of Next, give the VM name and folder name for Binary files(.vmx)

5. Specify disk capacity details.

6. Click on Next, to Customize the VM

7. Customize Hardware

8. After Customization, click on finish.

Then it will start for installation

It will take some time , Have patience…Take a Green Tea/Black coffee.

After successful installation, below screen will appear.

Open the terminal and start with some basic commands.

*** You can use putty to login your linux system from windows machine and work on it.

1. Download putty

You need ip address and port of linux system to login.

So take ip address of linux machine.

You have to install net tools .

Below cmd updates all ubuntu packages.

Above cmd is for installing net-tools.

Now we can check ip address.

For accessing VM we should have SSH service to be start.

Below cmd is to start ssh — With help of this cmd we can make SSH connection through putty

Now check from Putty

ssh set to run at start up-
