The journey towards an egalitarian society

While scrolling through the stories on Whatsapp I came across a picture which depicted that the feminist advocate for equal rights but take a sharp u-turn as soon as duties/responsibilities are brought into the picture. Being a staunch proponent of feminism myself led me to think whether the question being raised had substance in it or not?

After much deliberation here’s what I think this can be interpreted into. I partially agree with the question that feminist do advocate for the equal rights but the duties are never talked of in the argument of rooting out the innate patriarchy present in our society. But aren’t the rights harbinger for an equal platform for the oppressed faction of the society? Unless they are provided a level playing field why are our expectations that in the incipient stages of this argument will one be able to witness tangible responsibilities being handled by the people who just have taken their baby-steps?

The war against the deeply rooted patriarchy present in our societies and accepting an egalitarian society has merely begun, there’s a long road ahead of us for the existing system had been there for centuries and the fair system we are advocating for has been in discussion for merely years which can accurately be counted on human fingers.
