WHAT IS RESEARCH?

Research is a procedure by which we attempt to find systematically and with the support to demonstrate the fact, the answer to a question or the resolution of a problem.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY?

The methodology is underlying and unifying any research project. In other words, methodology controls the study, dictates how the data are required, arranges them in logical relationships, refines and synthesizes the raw data so that the meaning that lies below the surface of those data become manifest and yields conclusions that lead to expansion of knowledge.

RESEARCH TITLE

Avoid topics that may induce strong reactions, avoid topics that are overly ambitious and overly challenging. A small piece of an important topic or a small piece of an area that attracts you.

The Three Elements of Research Title

RESEARCH TOOL

A specific mechanism or strategy the researcher uses to collect, manipulate or interpret data.

Six (6) General Tools of Research

  1. The library and its resources
  2. The computer and its software
  3. Techniques of measurement
  4. Statistics
  5. The human mind
  6. Language

BENEFIT OF LITERATURE REVIEW

It can show you how others have handled methodological and design issues in studies similar to your own. It also can offer new ideas, perspectives and approaches that may not have occurred to you. These are presumed to be original investigations into the unexplored areas.

This postgraduate diary has been created for anyone who is struggling to complete their PhD journey. Perfect for postgraduate (Master & PhD) students to start their PhD journey. Template for postgraduate students to gather information. Ideal for note-taking during conferences, seminars, lectures, presentations, meetings for continuous professional development. Your PhD diary can be a lifetime for your thesis. Going through your diary showed how much you knew and what you have done and then motivated you again.

BENEFITS OF THIS APPROACH

  • To record experience. Don’t rely on your memory. Write down and write something about it.
  • To make sense of data and information. You read an article a lot and you know a lot. Through writing, focusing on your topic will help link pieces of information to get a meaningful picture of your research.
  • To investigate a topic. Brainstorm or mind map all of your ideas and consider your study from different perspectives.
  • To flesh out ideas. Sometimes you feel that you have a brilliant idea. Go further, develop it, and brainstorm about it. Formulate ways to make it real, ask yourself what you would need to realize it.
  • To enhance creativity. Creativity is not only a matter of sudden inspiration. Connecting the dots generates new concepts and approaches.
  • To improve writing. The more you write, the less intimidating writing seems to be.
