Trees, the important element for the existence of life.

Let’s do it together, BREATHE IN, BREATHE OUT, BREATHE IN, BREATHE OUT and STOP!! No trees, no breathe. In my opinion, trees are a tactile body that has always maintained a relationship being ecological with other living organisms and surroundings collecting a lot of experience for ages. It is an accepted fact that our world is not so ours as it is of trees. Trees are where we get the air to breathe and the medicine we receive. They are like those hidden treasures which promise the cures for the existence of life.

Trees have always been an essential part of successful life and infrastructures. We are aware of some facts such as trees act like a natural sponge absorbing water which further allows the soil to retain water and filter out toxins, the roots of the trees prevent floods, the porous on the leaves which purifies the air by trapping carbon and other pollutants helping the nature fight against climate change.

It is a magnificent feeling to come across more about trees and how they teach us principles for living. Principles such as Connection, Respect, Reciprocity, Balance, kinship, and Resilience. Each principle describes how forest trees reside. Further learning about these principles I came across how trees communicate with each other. It is so remarkable how the elder trees (the mother trees) pass on essential minerals and compounds to there younger ones. With the help of the fungi web, they not only transfer the compounds to there kin species but also the other species.

Humanity has been uncovering the arboreal benefits for centuries, the trunk is used to make paper, wood is used to make furniture, many compounds found in there are used to make various medicines, and most importantly we receive a tremendous amount of eatables from all kinds of trees and plants. But trees aren’t just crucial to our residential infrastructure, they play a very vital role for its citizens as well. Research indicates that the presence of green foliage increases our attention spans and decreases stress levels. It was always studied that hospital patients with views of brick walls recover more slowly than those with the views of trees. The aroma from different types of trees acts as a therapy session like the terpenes and the oils. Each species of trees have their different scents which calm our mood and energizes and boosts our entire system.

But imagine, what if the cure of your issue lies in a tree that has already been buried forever. Most of us have forgotten or are never even taught that ‘we are connected’ to each other and mother nature. It is a cycle of care. If we would take care of trees, they would take care of us. These connections are crucial for our well being. They are real. According to a study, unfortunately, the rainforests are disappearing by approximately one football field every 1.4 seconds. Or you can consider it in this way, by the time you would finish reading the blog we would lose approximately 214 fields of forests. It is not hard to figure out that we are heading towards an end zone where aggressive deforestation is affecting us now. For every species of trees we ever lost, we lose a potential life saving chemical formula that could have saved the life of your loved one. We are here today between climate change, species extinction, and human sufferings.

The solution lies in our relationship. The relationship with nature. We should understand the concept of ‘Complex Adaptive System’. We should imagine ourselves as a part of The Adaptive System and should help the mother nature as the other animal does. We CAN change it to good results.

I recently read about a brand named Modern Meadow which works for creating animal-free fabrics amalgamating there 3 elements i.e., Design, Material, and Biology. Keeping their objective of a sustainable future in mind they work for designing fabrics made from the molecular level without compromising nature. The Bio fabrication age is definitely a positive vision towards a better tomorrow. Now, imagine, what if we are accessible to design material from the molecular level which would replace wood.

It would bring a huge change in all of our lives. Try and visualize the beautiful world it would be if there would be no aggressive deforestation. The animals would never lose their habitats, the greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O) would never increase, the increase of the water level in the atmosphere would take place, soil erosion and flooding would never occur, however, life on earth would never end.
