Memes, Comments, and the next generation of content creation
Being part of the new age, I must admit I am totally consumed by the social networks. As dry as they might be on the friends landscape (offer no true friendship in general), they are a great source of quick bits of news, take twitter for instance. The rise of the meme concept keeps the generation glued to their Instagram accounts for days. The fascination and addiction to the crazy things people say. The latter, coupled with the ease of sharing makes memes a great commodity in social media.

For every great post follows great comments. Thus the rise of “I just came here to read the comments” memes on Facebook. Confession: for each great post, I check the comments first. And I am intrigued. Satire pages like The Onion, or funny pages like “9gag” have totally insane comments. It is those type of comments that drive the “I only came here for the comments” memes.
My fascination of social media commenters brought me to the realization that some of the greatest publishers/bloggers in our generation are the commenters of social media posts. The posters and the commenters are the true generators of content on social media. So far there was no good solution to share or save great Facebook comments with friends other than screenshots and copy paste.

Enter miim. Miim is an android app that turns great Facebook page comments and posts into memes. The user just has to “like” the comment, and miim will automatically generate a meme that the user can share with friends. This removes the necessity to copy or screenshot the screen to capture the great comments. It also stretches the audience for the quotable commenter.
