It is with great sadness to learn about Ed’s passing. Ed was a respected and loved member in the national and international fusion energy communities. For a while we shared together an office for graduate students at the University of Wisconsin when I joined UW in 1974. He was a kind person, always generous and willing to give without expecting to get anything in return. He helped me getting started at UW which I greatly appreciated. He graduated in 1976 and joined General Atomics and I graduated in 1980 and joined UCLA fusion group under the leadership of Prof. Robert Conn. We both had many opportunities to interact and meet in many fusion energy conferences. We both worked closely together, particularly after he started his private small business company by the name of TSI in Solana Beach, California.
Ed was very pleasant person to be around with. On many occasions, he used to invite his colleagues to his home in San Diego where he and his family demonstrated great hospitality.
Ed will always be remembered as a man with dignity and strong belief in noble principles. I pray for his family during this hard time of great loss. However, the admiration for Ed, and having good memories of him, will never go away.
Here is Ed with Bob. Ed is holding a picture of our research group when we were together at UW.
