I really liked that last line about using algorithms trivia to weed developers. Startups need to look carefully at following The Very Big Corporations down their hiring paths. If you use the same methodology to hire, you should not be surprised that you get people that are the same as the companies you will be competing with, except they’ll have a ton more resources backing them.
