Mailing lists are essential to any email marker and if you are reading this, chances are you are already putting a lot of effort and money in growing and maintaining yours.

The list building process goes typically through two stages that are defined by the size of your list :

0 recipients :

  • In most cases, you are starting from scratch and you think about strategies to acquire and engage new subscribers.
  • You follow commonly shared techniques that can help you grow your recipients base.
  • There are also some very good tools that can help you with this task, SumoMe List Builder being one of the best out there .

> 10K recipients :

  • You start worrying about your deliverability rates and your list hygiene, reconfirming or purging your inactive subscribers and cleaning up hard bounces.
  • You gather more information about your subscribers to improve your targeting and customize your content with the ultimate goal of increasing your conversion rates.
  • Then, after some iterations, you start realizing that you will always be bound to you mailing list and that there has to be a better way.

A better way ?

It’s like Dribbble, but for email marketers

Mailmelade began as an attempt to collect email marketing campaigns for personal inspiration purposes.

We started manually processing received emails, extracting the information we needed and taking screenshots of their HTML parts.

As you might have guessed, this was a very repetitive and time consuming task, so we saw the opportunity to optimize that work and that’s how we ended up with a fully automated system that didn’t require any manual intervention except for the validation step.

And then we realized that this can also be used by email marketers to go beyond their mailing lists boundaries and reach a wider audience.

We made it as easy as possible to integrate with their existing workflows as they would only have to add a fanout email address to the recipients list of their public campaigns and we will take care of the rest.

In the next article we will go over some of Mailmelade’s expected features.
