TDD and Javascript

The End of Week 6

The topic of the week was TDD (Test Drive Development) and Javascript. While both topics were interesting, neither was as exciting or as interesting as some of the previous topics we have covered. At the same time, the pace of the class seems to have slowed. The beginning half of the course definitely had the policy that the pace of the course was fast and each student had the responsibility of keeping up or be left behind. However, the last week has felt like the pace has changed to that of the lowest common denominator, where assignments times are extended and new topics are postponed. I have used the increasing amount of free time to work on personal projects and try to keep myself continually engaged and learning about new things that I find interesting.

Next week brings the start of a new phase of class where we work on team projects for two weeks. It will be nice to have something to add to my portfolio for when I graduate, but I hope that my teammates are people that I will work well with and that we are on similar levels in terms of skill. If not, maybe it will be a valuable experience of a simulated work environment that I may have to deal with in the future at a job. Here’s to hoping that the next two weeks are a good learning experience.
