Hi Erin. I work at The Times, and though I didn’t know your father personally, I loved his work. He was easily one of my favorite journalists. I will never forget that night. It has become etched in my memory.

I lost my mom nearly three years ago and the simple act of being unable to call her with news that was important, silly or mundane is one of the hardest things.
