Confessions of a Procrastinator

Do you procrastinate? Is that a yes? Ah, it is. I knew it.

Now you’ll know what I mean when I say that for us it is never too late to do anything. Regardless of what the task is, there’s always that extra week, that extra day, or that extra hour we find to fall back on.

Time has an elasticity for us; we stretch it like a rubber band, always finding more of it when there appears to be none. Yes, yes, I’ve stretched it too thin at times, but I’ve never snapped it. Never.

You nod in agreement. You see, if the task is important, it’ll get done. Somehow. Magically. Inevitably. And if it’s not important then it’ll fall away. Unnoticed. Slipping into irrelevance like we slip into sleep; it’s hard to put a finger on exactly when it happens.

Listen - don’t let anyone tell you it’s bad to procrastinate. All it means is that we spend less time doing what we need to do and more time doing what we want to do.
