I wanted Medium to be a platform where I could develop my writing skills (more or less from scratch, since I’ve never actually written anything for publication).
However, as soon as I started, I realised that I had a problem with finding who my audience might be, especially because it seems like there is not much space for niche writing (if you want to get an audience, that is, which is necessary if you want ANY feedback about what you’re doing). The fairly small number of categories and the fact that they are very general seems slightly discouraging.

I enjoy reading different things on Medium, but I feel discouraged to write. It might just be that I’m impatient, or that my short articles are still shitty. Still, the stats tell me that not even a single view got to what I’ve written unless it was a comment.

It feels like a struggle to be heard and reviewed, and although patience might get me there, I am left wondering if there is anything I can actually offer to this platform. Maybe I need time and a blind focus on what I am doing, and somebody would get there eventually, but it might just be that I need to find my own space for development. I don’t know.
