My top 4 must-sees in Sicily including the best beach in Italy
Sicily: Walk in for a perfect arancino, dip in the best beach, jump into the auto-regulated system and enjoy getting lost in the shuffle!
I’ve recently turned 30 and couldn’t find a better excuse to live my dream: travelling around the sapphire waters of Mediterranean sea, in the shade of ancient civilisations. The adventure started with nothing less than the biggest island of The Mediterranean sea. Here are my top 4 places to see on the Ouest Sicilian coast: Ze best of Ze west!
1. Best beach: Tonnarella dell’uzzo
When we arrived at the entrance of Zingaro Riserva naturale, a Sicilian told us that we are about to see the best beach in Italy. I looked back at him with a wry smile trying to say: this is what every Italian says about his hometown. Once there, we couldn’t agree more with him: Spiaggia Tonnarella dell’uzzo is the best beach we’ve ever seen.

You might be tempted by Spiaggia San Vito Lo Capo, but it’s a very touristic beach where everyone is trying to sell you something you don’t need. Continue your way to Zingaro riserva naturale, and thank me later for the crystal clear water, the small soft white rocks, and la dolce vita.
2. Best restaurant: Caupona Taverna di Siclia
How is it possible to talk about Italy and Sicily without mentioning food? Sicily is the birthplace of Cannoli, Arancini, an important part of Italian wine and olive oil production, and so many other typical Italian food we happily devour.
If I am only allowed to name one restaurant, I’ll name Caupona Taverna di Sicilia in Trapani. It’s the kind of restaurant that we’d like to see more often: family-style with very high and creative cooking standards.

Order the appetizer you see on the picture above. You’ll find everything you need to heal your soul and awaken your senses. I don’t even remember what my main dish was as I stayed up on the cloud where the appetizer brought me.
3. Best archeological site: Valley of the temples
“Build as if you were to live forever, eat as if you were to die tomorrow”.
No wonder it’s the life Motto in Agrigento. The temples are standing in accurately calculated angles based on a complicated mathematical formula. I have no courage to read the formula, but I know it works: The walls are standing since 440 BC to witness our time where we build as if we were to die tomorrow.

You can visit the Temple of Concordia featured in the Unesco logo, and the garden to taste delicious pistachios, almonds, orange and more.
I don’t want to make any proud Athenian mad, but Agrigento is more impressive than Athena. Sorry sorry!
4. Best city: Sciacca
I’m mentioning this city for the love I received there more that its touristic attractions.
After my Ouest Coast exploration with Jessy, I’ve spent about 4 weeks on an olive farm and a soap museum. I had the chance to be part of a great crew and live the farm life.
If you visit Sciacca, don’t miss the soap museum la Casa museo del sapone to learn about soap’s history ans composition, and discover Saponi&Saponi natural organic cosmetics.

I visited with Jessy many other places that you can discover on the Tripline map.
No matter what your itinerary in Sicily is, it’s hard to make a bad choice, but you’ll set the bar higher for the next destination!
