The most amazing I have experienced was having a lone Chinese tourist ask me at Helsingor what the significance of that place was. She didn’t quite understand the significance of Shakespeare, but she was there.

I went on a canal cruise around Amsterdam, and half the boat was a HK tour group who had to get off half way because they were forced to go shopping. No different from Chinese tour groups. I felt bad for them, because they were forced to miss half the city (so to speak). There were also five Brits who talked very loudly and wanted to get off halfway, because they obviously couldn’t care less about the place and its history. That was the clearest show that tourists are tourists (myself included), don’t matter where they come from.
