Good men and women carried out these crimes, and could go home, love their children, support the system and never have a bad nights sleep plagued by a guilty conscience.
I shall go out on a limb here.

No. You can’t have it both ways. You can have good people do bad things — and suffer a guilty conscience. But you can’t be a ‘good’ person, that does awful things and not be affected.

Look at the way Bush and Obama aged in office. As president, I’m sure you make all kinds of decisions with horrible consequences (intended and unintended) — and if you’re a ‘good’ person, that takes a toll.

Maybe we’ll know the real measure of President Trump’s ‘goodness’ by how robust, or aged, he appears at the end of his term.
