Amazon went through a similar process, when it started putting its thumb on the scale, showing its own products first when doing a product search, even if they weren’t the cheapest.

Much of the same happened with grocery stores and big box stores – by virtue of the fact that they control significant market share for most consumers buying products at physical locations, they dictate what products recieve shelf-space and which will never see the light if day.

They also, coincidentally, have their own private brands for all major products… and in some cases their private brands completely displace all other in-store offerings until theirs are the only ones left.
