Growing into technology, not with it.
People born into the 2000's have a disadvantage or advantage on technology?
Being born in the 1990's I was brought up with Iphone and Ipods coming out in the some of the first generations. I use apple everything, iPhone, iMac, Macbook..etc Although it would seem that I am very indulged in the tech world, I am not. I use these devices for very basic tasks even though they are made to be absolute workhorses.
I have some younger cousins who are born in the early 2000's and they all have iPod Touches and computers but they seem to never put them down. I do use my phone and computer a lot but I never have a problem just turning them off for a couple of days. In the last year or two there have been numerous studies come out about kids using phones and computers to much. There are two ways to look at this problem:
- The kids born in the 2000's are going to be the future of technology because of how much exposure they get.
- The kids born in the 2000's are not learning to use technology in moderation and will exploit screen to much and, to eventually harm themselves.
Both points are valid because we are talking about the future. Who knows what is going to happen. Maybe we will start to see some of the most advanced technologies in the coming years, maybe the exact opposite? or nothing will change. I wonder where this will go but I hope its for the better. Pass this onto someone who you think is to indulged in technology. Heres an idea, low tech tuesday. See if you can do it.
