Robots.Farm threatens the OpenSea Throne:

Book II of the Unstoppable Nyan-Cat Rainbow Effect

“Most Robots don’t program themselves.”

— Neil Strauss

Oh, boy. No sooner had my previous edition on Robots.Farm gone to the publishers, than this updated edition became necessary due to Robots.Farm’ new string of announcements, set down in their Medium article. As predicted, surprises galore await those helping to stir the magic pot that is Robots.Farm.

Remember:

*Digital crackle*

“All — your — users — are — belong — to — us.”

So, on to business -

The Dex

It seems that the Robots.Farm Dex will go live with 12 networks early this year. The Dex will coincide with the Robots.Farm airdrop, their TGE (Token Generation Event), and several additional components, including Shards.

Shards

Though still shrouded in mystery, newly announced Shards will apparently be earned through engagement with the Dex itself, through trading, possibly participation in their liquidity pools and the like. What will Shards be used for? This is not yet clear, but with the seamless integration of past components of Robots.Farm, like Points, which had immediate and specific utility, Shards will surely be a welcome and exciting gamified component of the protocol.

Robot NFTs

When thinking of Shards, I can’t help but consider another upcoming component of Robots.Farm, the Robots themselves. In 28 unique varieties, these NFTs will apparently have some level of “durability,” essentially meaning that when used for DeFi quests, some amount of this durability may be lost. How will one recover this “durability?” Hmmm…. Shards? I’m only speculating, but what better way to fix your clunky, used up Robot NFT?

XP, New and Improved

Also included in the New Year’s Medium article is the curious re-introduction of XP. This mechanic is already in use through Zealy Quests with Robots.Farm, but it sounds like the protocol will be deepening its connection to XP, perhaps coinciding with the announced “In-house Engagement Marketing Platform.”

The mechanics of XP and the Marketing Platform look like they will rely on social engagement, and XP will serve as a rewardable currency system based on social metrics. So far, XP has been directly translated into the Points system. Whether this will remain the case has yet to be discovered, though the article makes clear that Points will be more difficult to obtain in the updated system.

$BOT

The only announced changes to the Token Generation Event lie in the increase of total tokens dropped during the event. The total has been moved from a hard-cap of 5% of total supply to a dynamically driven educated guess of 7% of total supply. This is undoubtedly due to nudging the opening date of the Dex by a month or so, thereby keeping folks engaged with gamified elements in the interim.

And here’s a major thing to take note of — we may now have the ticker for the Robots.Farm token! The following is clipped from the Medium article:

So, certain gamers may soon be drowning in $BOT! Thrilling developments.

OpenSea Takeover

The addition of 2% of total supply supports a worthy goal, continued user engagement. As announced in the Discord server by The Mastermind of the project, @ivanvankraft, Robots.Farm is a mere 6000 users per month behind OpenSea itself. Also notable in this table is that a major driving force of Element.Market has been the current NFT spread of Robots.Farm.

This startling gem was communicated amidst a flurry of Discord activity following the previously noted Medium announcements.

Along with this heightened Discord activity, the following text was tantalizingly dropped:

“Please note that the roadmap for Robots.Farm development is published with only a portion of our planned milestones. Due to Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) and other restrictions, we are unable to include all our intended milestones in the publicly available roadmap. We understand the importance of transparency and communication with our community.”

What are we to make of this Easter Egg? NDAs? Other restrictions? What this may mean is that Robots.Farm is in the process of securing some pretty serious funding and acquiring name-droppable, A-list partners. Watch out! As announcements of announcements go, this is mic-drop fare.

All these facts taken together leave me vibrating with metallic anticipation, and as a purely speculative venture, I would posit that Robots.Farm is imminently poised to:

  1. Launch an A-class Dex with it’s own gamified token, $BOT
  2. Be partnered with one or more Unicorn-level partners who make such things as an NDAs advisable, and
  3. Launch their Dex sometime in the midst of the zkSync airdrop hysteria-hurricane, where inflows of cash-cum-TVL shoot to record highs.

*Faints and face-plants in cereal bowl*

My God, but Wen?!?!

Frustratingly, no dates have been given for either the Robots.Farm Airdrop or for the opening of the Dex, other than a Q1 2024 roadmap marker. The reasoning for this is understandable at the level of the Team, who (as laid out in my previous article), have been working hard on features like Wallet Connect V3, free ENS for everyone, and the zkSync daily raffle, all proven as enormous boons to user growth. These features, unpredictable as they are, have taken time, but have been integral in the growth of Robots.Farm as we have seen it. As impatient as I can be, no trust has been lost due to these factors. After all, how can one doubt a protocol that has discovered the answer to life, the universe, and everything?

One gets the sense that the once small Robots.Farm — now leviathan in its wake under the waters — may soon surface to show us just how large a whale we have captured in our various gaming adventures together.

I would suggest that readers recall the phrase “tip of the iceberg,” and understand just how much might be going on beneath the surface when an iceberg seems simply a jolly ice island jutting out of the water. Grab a drysuit and some snorkeling gear and take a look at the depths. Ice is at a premium on this warming globe, and beneath the foamy waves secreted by lesser projects scrumming back and forth across the waters, may be hidden the motherload.
