READ OBADIAH

“The day of the Lord is near for all nations.

As you have done, it will be done to you; your deeds will return upon your own head.”

– Obadiah 15(NIV)

As we have done it will be done to us and our deeds will return upon our heads. If we show no mercy to people who offend or mislead us, when we make mistakes we will also be shown no mercy. We will make mistakes and we do want to be shown mercy and forgiven by God and men. In order for that to happen we must be ready and willing to forgive regardless of the offense or how we feel about it.

“But I will encamp at my temple to guard it against marauding forces. Never again will an oppressor overrun my people, for now I am keeping watch.”

We should not think it’s our skill or ability that enables us to succeed but it is God who has…

“Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed and establishes a town by injustice!”

- HABAKKUK 1:12

Let’s build our lives and businesses upon the right foundation which is God’s Word. Let it be said they built their business and fashioned their life with prayer and fasting upon the foundation of the Word.

READ NAHUM 3

“… all because of the wanton lust of a prostitute, alluring, the mistress of sorceries, who enslaved nations by her prostitution and peoples by her witchcraft.” — NAHUM 3:4(NIV)

God hates prostitution and also idolatry and so should we hate sin in the same measure. Sin is sin regardless of how much the world may try to sugar coating it or use other ‘softer’ terms.

“I am against you,” declares the Lord Almighty.

“I will burn up your chariots in smoke, and the sword will devour your young lions. I will leave you no prey on the earth. The voices of your messengers will no longer be heard.” — NAHUM 2:13

When we choose to disobey we say to God ‘I am against you Lord and your will’. That’s a dangerous place to be because we are on the losing side. Those who work against the Lord ended up being destroyed and forgotten.

The Lord is a jealous and avenging God, the Lord takes vengeance and is filled with wrath.

The Lord takes vengeance on his foes and vents his wrath against his enemies.

Allow God to take vengeance on your behalf because he clearly knows how to. If we choose to take revenge most times it’s not justified and it will only cause us to sin as we attempt to appease our selfish anger and hatred. This only serves to draw us farther away from God.

“Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.” — MICAH 7:8

Though we have fallen and done the things we said we would not do. We will rise again in Jesus name for the Lord will be my light in this time of darkness and we will testify of his goodness and salvation to others in the end.

“Therefore, I have begun to destroy you, to ruin you because of your sins.”

-MICAH 6:13

We do not want sins to be the cause of our destruction. May the Lord help us to say no to ungodliness and sin. For sin will not satisfy us but will cause us and those around us misery, hurt, shame and sadness. Instead let us seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness(Matthew 6:33).

--

“Both hands are skilled in doing evil; the ruler demands gifts, the judge accepts bribes, the powerful dictate what they desire — they all conspire together.”

- MICAH 7: 3

What are our hands skilled at? What is our mind build for? Is it plotting and acting out evil? No it is to do according to Gods heart and mind.

Help us Lord to live in such a way that people know we expect only the best and highest standard of integrity. When people work with us, we want them to work as unto God and not as unto men giving it their best shot. Help us Lord to set up such a life that demands others to do what is right and pleasing to you.

--

“Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of olive oil?

Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?.”

- MICAH 6:7

What he desires is our obedience not our lavish sacrifices and proclamations of love. He desires that we

  1. Be Just (not based on the world’s justice systems and laws but based on His constitution the BIBLE).

2. Love mercy — diligently and always love and have compassion on his people just as he did. He commands us to love God and love thy neighbor

3. Walk humbly with thy God — knowing we are nothing without him.
