Virginia Primary School become an official Makers Empire Lighthouse School

Virginia Primary School has been selected to join Makers Empire Lighthouse Program, connecting 3D design & printing with education.

As a Lighthouse School, Virginia Primary School will help test, develop and evaluate Makers Empire 3D design software, lesson plans and other products and services to optimise learning outcomes for young students. Additionally Virginia Primary will be able to take on a leading role to help other local schools to develop 3D design and printing ideas for education.

Virginia Primary School comprises of a diverse school community with 66% of students originating from non-english speaking backgrounds. It is embedded in a changing landscape with the surrounding local automotive industry closing down. Against this back drop, the school is active to help its students gain educational advantages to compete in tomorrow’s digital and technology economy.

“The northern suburbs of Adelaide, Australia, has a rich history of innovation and manufacturing from the first Australian satellite to the rollout of cars from the assembly line at Elizabeth. With the addition of Virginia Primary School to our Lighthouse Schools Program, we have a school that understands the learning needs for the challenges of tomorrow.” Makers Empire CEO, Jon Soong said.

“As a school we need to ensure we provide as many broad opportunities as possible to promote and prepare our students to be life-long learners. Many of the jobs that exist today will be obsolete by the time our children enter the workforce. As a school we are excited by the creative and innovative opportunities the relationship with Makers Empire will bring through 3D design and printing. This connection has and will continue to add to the quality learning experiences offered to our children” Ilia Tsoutouras Principal Virginia Primary School.
