Skin and Nutrition.
The growth of new skin cells depends on what you eat and drink. Our skin needs to be hydrated consistently and infused with minerals and vitamins.
There’s always the option of popping vitamin pills but it’s more advantageous to take them in food form because foods generally contain more than one vitamin at a time.
Vitamin A which helps to slow down or prevent aging is found in dairy foods and egg yolk.
Vitamin B promotes skin firmness and is found in eggs and carrots/ spinach, even in sweet potatoes.
Vitamin C promotes skin clarity, elasticity and structure. This is found in tomatoes and citrus fruits.
Vitamin D helps in developing new skin cells and is found in egg yolk, fortified milk and other dairy products.
Zinc promotes healing in the body and can be found in beans and whole grain foods.
Biotin prevents hair loss and can be found in peanut butter, eggs and liver.
Vitamin E helps build and maintain healthy skin tissues and is found in nuts(groundnuts, almonds, cashew etc)
Monounsaturated fats necessary for supple skin and soft shiny hair. This is found in olive oil, avocado and some fatty fish.
And finally Water, without this, our bodies which are 80% water become dehydrated. Drink a lot of water everyday especially after coffee and alcohol as they remove water from the body and eat foods with high water content e.g fruits.
